Willison Construction got involved with this property, located deep in rural Gloucestershire, when the owner wanted to completely renovate a previously part-converted barn and annex. Starting with a low quality existing conversion, the team successfully undertook a top-to-bottom property renovation as well as realising the potential of an unconverted loft area and updating a small 1980s kitchen.
Initially, Willison Construction gutted the property before adding a new kitchen diner and lounge/living area – the latter opening onto the rear garden through striking double-glazed oak sliding doors chosen to maximise the amount of light entering the ground floor living area. A new upstairs bedroom (featuring a stunning arched stone gable window and Velux roof lights) is reached by a bespoke timber ‘twisted staircase’. The renovation work also included installation of a contemporary ceramic-tiled bathroom with the latest electric underfloor heating.

In the case of the Tetbury barn conversion, the works were relatively straightforward, with little need for Steve Willison to deploy his trademark tact, sensitivity and determination at the occasionally rocky interface between the needs and expectations of architects, contractors and, above all, the most demanding clients.
